Shop for the Animals

My friend Barb (a good pal to me and all of our four-legged friends) has collaborated with Chico's Clothing Store (Chico Mall on E. 20th St. next to See's Candy Shop) on a "Shop for the Animals" fundraiser to benefit our fine furry friends at the Butte Humane Society. Simply shop at Chico's on Fri., Sat., or Sun., July 24, 25, & 26, mention the Butte Humane Society, and 10% of your purchase price will be donated to the shelter. Cool new duds and an act of kindness for the dogs & kitties...now THAT'S a good deal!

Chico's hours: 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Fri./Sat., Noon - 6 p.m. Sun.

Get Out the ZooToo Vote!

UPDATE: Our Chico shelter took 2nd PLACE in the ZooToo contest! In addition to the excellent exposure for Butte Humane Society (and increased adoptions and donations), the cash award of $50,000 will be a huge help toward improving conditions for our local animals. Kudos to everyone who helped with this very worthwhile endeavor!

Next time you get the urge to get a puppy, tune in to the Puppycam! Maybe it will cure the urge...or maybe fuel the flame! (In which case, check your local shelter or, here in Chico, the Butte Humane Society first, for the pups and kitties most in need of loving homes.) If you decide the puppycam fulfills your needs for now, you can always donate your time or items (blankets, towels, food etc.) to a shelter near you.

For Animal Lovers...

If you're an animal lover (like I am), you might consider logging onto the web site ZooToo and becoming a member. Once you're a member, you can affiliate yourself with your local animal shelter. Then each time you upload a photo or video, you score points toward a "makeover" or other prizes for your shelter. After joining ZooToo, I affiliated with the Butte Humane Society. My friend Barb (who is a real hero to our local animal community), says the Humane Society is always in need of certain supplies. So if you have extra towels, blankets, soft fabric, tarps, carpet, dog houses (especially getting into the cold winter months) critter supplies, office supplies, etc., consider donating them. Please click here for a list of items needed. And, of course, if you're looking for a new best friend and can provide a good home, check this site out.
